Bendigo producer DRECHSLER & Uprise Music‘s new song Duro is an unusual blend of Latin Tech House & Melodic Techno music with urban aesthetics that has a potential to become a major trend in 2023. The Australian producer’s special sauce, that gives the track its unique vibe, is made by creating a contrast between the festive trumpet samples, live drums and the urgency of digital synth arpeggios and drums.
DRESCHLER opens Duro in a simple, yet elegant manner by introducing the main drum section and the Latin trumpet sample. But as the song progresses, we start noticing that there are some distinctive nuances behind this simplicity that make the track hard to be categorized as a pure Latin Tech House piece. After a couple of cycles, the initial sequence starts filtering out, and the cold metallic synth section starts emerging. It’s no wonder that Duro is released on an NY label that is known for this kind of “dualistic” sound with their releases like Riot by FOVOS or the Bass House collaboration Scream that balance between moods and grooves. In this specific case, the change not only introduces some variation to the track, but it also switches the whole cheerful tone on the new DRECHSLER & Uprise Music song to something that sounds more sober and serious, but somewhat nostalgic at the same time.
It’s a shift that only works during the first listen. Once it happens, the track can’t be perceived as it was, and every sound we’ve heard before is permanently subjected to the newly revealed mood. It’s important to notice that DRECHSLER illustrates this in a very transparent way when he starts playing the acoustic and digital parts of the song back to back during some moments. This allows us to comprehend what exactly causes this shift and with that the producer reassures that this is not something that is only “felt” subjectively, but an intentional production choice. Hopefully, DRECHSLER’s release will help us see more fusion of Latin Tech House & Melodic Techno music in this trend in 2023, but until then, the eclectic Se Va by Tom & Collins, the hazy Tequila by San Pacho & the energetic Dale Loca by Chemical Surf are some of 2022’s best Latin House tracks you might also like.
