Teho unveils his long-awaited 3rd album “Shifting”

Teho unveiled his new 2024 album
Teho unveiled his new 2024 album "Shifting", a captivating, immersive and melodically impressive Melodic House & Techno musical journey.

We’re always so excited when we get to reveal a new album by one of our favorite artists, and that’s exactly what we get to do today with the brand new 2024 Teho Melodic House & Techno album. If you’re a regular EKM reader it’s likely that French producer Teho will need no introduction, but if you need a little refresher about the music he’s made in the past, be sure to check out some of our previous features about him, which have covered tracks including Dark Matter, Unlocked / Odyssey, Stern (with Ceas), Fury (with Joris Delacroix and the Einmusik remix of Unlocked. His new album, meanwhile, is called Teho – Shifting, and it comprises thirteen tracks that sit right in that sweet spot between Melodic House and Techno.

As is to be expected from this artist, every track on Teho – Shifting is an instrumental – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of hooks and catchy moments for you to listen out for. Among such highlights is the sixth track Day Off, a sweepingly expressive slice of emotional Melodic House that was released as one of the album’s singles back in November last year. Another standout moment that was also released as a single is Continuum, a richly layered track that really pushes the album’s key themes of restlessness and progression, as showcased in its lead synth line that has an overt pulsing feel. The opening track Hypernova also leaves a similar impression, but in contrast features a dramatic introduction that builds-up slowly, almost as though Teho is taking his time in introducing his new 2024 Melodic House & Techno album to us. Crunchy percussion and bass subsequently permeate the track throughout, giving it a feeling of organic wildness that we haven’t heard a great deal of in Teho’s music before. The fourth track Five – O, meanwhile, serves to balance things out a bit, its lead choir-style melody lending the track a human touch.

Whether you’ve been a fan since the beginning or are relatively new to his music, Teho – Shifting will no doubt come across as a highly coherent album with the odd distinctive touch to make it truly special.
