Today, EKM readers, we’re bringing you something a bit different – the highly anticipated debut album from classically trained violinist and electronic music producer Lila Kova. The album is called Lila Kova – Where I Become Sound, and it comprises seven tracks which see the artist combining Techno music with cinematic textures and her abilities as a classical musician.

Lila Kova’s Where I Become Sound Turns Violin Into Electronic Texture

Where I Become Sound is arguably most interesting when it is heard as a complete journey, gradually shifting between different sides of Kova’s musical identity. The opening few tracks immediately establish a driving electronic energy, with the likes of You’re Caught, Follow the Connection, and Frequency of Imagination pushing into experimental peak-time Techno territory. The production is forceful and potent without feeling overly rigid, and Kova’s violin appears not simply as a classical instrument, but rather as something that is manipulated, layered and absorbed into the electronic textures of the album as a whole.

As the record progresses, meanwhile, the mood begins to change. The rhythms become more spacious, allowing the more experimental side of Kova’s production to take over. Rather than abandoning the Techno sound entirely, however, she simply pulls away from its conventions, creating a sense that the album is moving somewhere more personal and atmospheric.

That evolution becomes particularly striking across the album’s final three tracks, Symphonic Signal, Violin Dream, and After The Silence. Here, the electronic framework increasingly gives way to cinematic arrangements, with the violin becoming more prominent as the record approaches its end. Sustained strings, electronic ambience and carefully layered textures serve to build a sense of scale, and by the time Where I Become Sound reaches its final moments, the distinction between ‘Lila Kova the violinist’ and ‘Lila Kova the Techno producer’ has almost completely disappeared. This is ultimately what makes the album feel cohesive; rather than placing classical music and electronic production side by side, Lila Kova gradually allows them to become the same thing.
