These Terms of Use govern your use of EKM.CO and explain important conditions relating to music submissions, editorial consideration, playlists, third-party services and content published on the website.

By accessing or using EKM.CO, you agree to use the website in accordance with these Terms and applicable law.

1. About EKM.CO

EKM.CO is an independent, human-curated electronic music discovery and editorial platform founded in 2009.

EKM.CO publishes music reviews, release features, interviews, playlists, DJ mixes, news, events, videos and other editorial content related primarily to electronic music.

2. Editorial Independence

All editorial decisions are made independently by EKM.CO.

Submitting music, contacting EKM.CO, using a third-party submission platform, paying a fee charged by a third-party platform or otherwise interacting with EKM.CO does not guarantee:

  • editorial coverage;
  • publication on EKM.CO;
  • inclusion in an EKM.CO playlist;
  • social-media promotion;
  • an interview;
  • a review;
  • a positive review or recommendation;
  • any particular placement, ranking, exposure, audience size or commercial result.

EKM.CO retains complete discretion over whether, when and how music or artists are featured.

3. Music Submissions

Artists, labels, publicists and other authorized representatives may submit music for consideration through the methods identified on our music submission page.

Please use the designated submission process rather than sending unsolicited music directly to our general email address.

Submitting music gives EKM.CO permission to access and evaluate the materials provided for editorial and playlist consideration.

A submission does not create an obligation for EKM.CO to publish, review, respond to or otherwise feature the submitted material.

4. Authority to Submit Music

By submitting music to EKM.CO, you represent that:

  • you are the artist, rights holder or an authorized representative of the artist or rights holder;
  • you have the authority to submit the music and related materials for consideration;
  • the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
  • EKM.CO’s reasonable editorial review of the submitted materials will not knowingly infringe the rights of another person.

Do not submit music, photographs, artwork, text or other materials that you are not authorized to provide.

5. Rights in Submitted Materials

Submitting music to EKM.CO does not transfer ownership of your music, recordings, artwork or other intellectual property to EKM.CO.

However, when you provide promotional materials such as artist photographs, cover artwork, press images, biographies or release information for editorial consideration, you represent that EKM.CO may reasonably use those materials in connection with editorial coverage of the artist or release.

This permission is non-exclusive and limited to reasonable editorial, promotional and archival uses connected with EKM.CO’s coverage.

If a rights holder believes material has been used incorrectly, please contact info@ekm.co and identify the relevant content.

6. Third-Party Submission Platforms

EKM.CO may receive music through third-party services such as SubmitHub, Groover, Playlist Push or other submission platforms.

Those services are independently operated and may have their own:

  • terms of service;
  • privacy policies;
  • pricing;
  • payment processing;
  • refund policies;
  • submission rules.

Any payment made through a third-party submission service is governed by the terms of that service.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, EKM.CO does not directly process payment information submitted through those platforms.

A fee charged by a third-party platform may relate to consideration, feedback or access to its submission service. It does not purchase or guarantee editorial coverage, playlist placement or positive treatment by EKM.CO.

7. Playlists

EKM.CO playlists are human-curated.

Playlist inclusion is based on editorial and curatorial judgment and may change at any time.

Tracks may be added, removed, reordered or replaced without notice as playlists evolve.

No artist, label, publicist or other party is entitled to permanent playlist placement.

8. Editorial Content, Opinions and Reviews

Reviews, recommendations, commentary, rankings and other editorial assessments published by EKM.CO reflect editorial judgment at the time of publication.

Opinions are inherently subjective.

EKM.CO may update, correct or revise editorial content when appropriate.

The fact that an artist, label or representative provided promotional material or submitted music does not control EKM.CO’s editorial opinion.

9. Corrections and Content Concerns

EKM.CO aims to publish accurate information.

EKM.CO will review reasonable correction requests but retains editorial discretion regarding amendments except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Unless otherwise indicated, the original text, editorial presentation, EKM.CO branding, logos, graphics and other original website materials are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Third-party music, artwork, photographs, videos, trademarks, logos and embedded media remain the property of their respective owners.

You may link to EKM.CO articles and share reasonable excerpts with attribution.

You may not reproduce, republish, scrape, systematically copy, commercially exploit or redistribute substantial portions of EKM.CO’s original content without permission, except where permitted by law.
