Anyone who’s a big fan of danceable but emotional Electronic music will no doubt keep a close eye on Don Diablo’s FUTURE label, which specializes in Dance music with more than a little heart and soul. The label’s latest release, Involver – Elohim ft Anna Simone, doesn’t buck this trend either, taking classic Drum and Bass rhythms and infusing them with passionately delivered lyrics and electrifying synths. It’s certainly a killer combination and one that results in this new Involver and Anna Simone song being perfect for both the FUTURE imprint and the current Drum and Bass scene.
The sheer dramatic effect of this track should also not be underestimated, with Simone’s vocals soaring over heavy sub-bass lines and lending it an almost theatrical quality in places. Involver’s production, meanwhile, ensures that these theatrical tendencies are kept in check, keeping melodic phrases short, sharp, and sweet, and giving them a pulsating quality to offset the long notes of the vocal melody. Lovers of no-frills Drum and Bass need to have no fear either; at the heart of this new Involver & Anna Simone song is some powerful percussion and driving electronics. These elements may take a while to kick in, not entering until partway through the song, but when they do it’s as though someone has flicked a switch on Elohim and allowed the fiery energy at its core to really shine through.
The artists behind the track are no strangers to fiery, energetic music either, with Dutch vocalist Anna Simone having collaborated with the likes of Matrix and Futurebound, and Ukrainian artist Involver having previously released music on renowned label Generation HEX. Together, meanwhile, on Involver – Elohim ft Anna Simone, these two artists have created a driving but emotional slice of Drum and Bass that sounds right at home on Don Diablo’s FUTURE label.
