Dr. Fresch & Marten Hørger team up for a new song titled Free My Mind, a muscular Bass/Electro House anthem with breathtaking drive and groove. The unusually soulful track is the second collaboration between the Bass music giants, yet sounds like the two have been working as a duo during their entire careers.
At this point, Dr. Fresch has proven to be a producer so versatile, it’s hard to really guess which direction he will head next. Indeed, after the riddim-rich remix of Empire by The Funk Hunters & Stickybuds and the nostalgic Ravewerk with LO’99, Free My Mind sounds almost like it’s been produced by a completely different person. The reason for this is hardly the fact that this is a collaborative track, since Marten Hørger is known to operate in similar fields, take last year’s beefy Electro House track Believe In Me with Donkong as an example. Sure, one may point out that in terms of vibes, Free My Mind sounds very similar to the Marten Hørger’s remix of the Faith by Tchami.
However, despite both of the songs sounding hopeful and bright, there is a huge difference in the purposes they serve. Namely, the Bass/Electro House energy that the producers inject into the new song makes it sound like a banging club anthem, that is completely stripped off of the low-pressure atmosphere found on the Tchami remix.
The new Dr. Fresch & Marten Hørger song is bold, more in-your-face, and far more direct than anything similar the two have produced separately. And, after two collaborations, it seems like this combination of moods and energies is solely due to the chemistry between the artists. With Marten Hørger’s soulful touch, and the pumped-up, bass-heavy style of Dr. Fresch, Free My Mind sounds like an instant hit, making the fans expect more collaborations between the artists in the future.
