Both Australian producer Odd Mob (aka Harry Hope) and Los Angeles producer OMNOM (aka Cody Lee) are known for putting out House-flavored material that’s a little on the quirky side. Now the duo have teamed up to bring us Odd Mob and OMNOM – Okay Fine, a brand new Techno House track that’s fun, danceable and just on the right side of weird. It is one of four tracks to be released as part of the Odd Mob & OMNOM – Hyperbeam: The Unexplained EP, the other tracks being All Day, All Night, Reading My Mind, and Mind Awake, Body Asleep. Both the EP and the single version of Okay Fine are due out on 26th April, so you’d better mark the date in your diary, because this is a pair of releases that you really won’t want to miss out on. We’re particularly excited to be covering this track here at EKM, because whilst we’ve written about Odd Mob in the past – namely his tracks Been Dreaming, Left To Right and the Left To Right remixes – this new 2024 Odd Mob & OMNOM song gives us a chance to give the latter some coverage too.
From the very first listen, it’s immediately obvious that Odd Mob & OMNOM – Okay Fine is a fresh House track that’s going to get more addictive the more you listen. It’s essentially dominated by a memorably blasé female vocal, which begins with the rather strange line “okay, fine / I’ll see you in my mind” and gradually becomes more and more hypnotic and enticing. As for the music, the track flits between sizzling instrumental synth breaks and build-ups and breakdowns framed by the vocal, whilst the fact the whole thing is positively drenched in bass keeps things pulsing along nicely. As such, Odd Mob and OMNOM – Okay Fine will surely find acclaim as both a single release and as the closing track of the Odd Mob & OMNOM – Hyperbeam: The Unexplained EP, something that is well-deserved by these two talented artists.
Overall, this new 2024 Odd Mob & OMNOM song combines a powerful bassline with a distinctive vocal part to create a track that is distinctive, quirky and dripping with classic Tech House vibes.
