Before becoming BLVK JVCK, Jermaine “Mayne Zayne” Jackson built his reputation as a music producer by crafting hits for mainstream artists like Rihanna, Usher, Justin Bieber, and Lil Wayne. He later discovered his love for EDM which led him to take his music in a different direction and before long, this Florida native became a pioneer for fusing dubstep with hip-hop/trap. This helped him introduce a fresh sound which is perfectly captured in his latest release, ‘GVNG X4.’ Released on March 26th, this song follows BLVK JVCK’s recently released banger “Dat Way” (that you should absolutely check out if you haven’t already) which featured Icy Narco.
‘GVNG X4’ contains an incredible vocal from the St. Louis based MC Comethazine. The song sees BLVK JVCK experimenting with the textures, patterns, and tempos of the song, showcasing his musical prowess in dubstep, trap & grime. But despite all the switch-ups, it never feels overdone. The song features his trademark, hard-hitting, street-infused production style while Comethazine gives a special touch to the track with his rapid-fire delivery that’ll make you throw gang signs.
BLVK JVCK’s ‘GVNG X4’ functions around the harsh and gritty synths which are full of fresh textures, depth, and mood with its resonant sound. Rooting itself in the brain between beat-tape hip hop and spaced-out, deconstructed dubstep styles, the track rides firmly on its own wave.
