Titus1 first released My Fire – a dramatic Progressive House track featuring deep beats and powerful female vocals – earlier this year. In April, meanwhile, he released a mini-album that featured numerous fresh takes on the track by the likes of Toxic Wraith, Ginsong and Atwood, an album which has already been on the receiving end of rave reviews from the music press. But as masterful as the remixes of the track by the three aforementioned artists are, perhaps the most accomplished track on the remix album is Titus1 – My Fire (TATE SEDAR Radio Mix), which sees the latter producer take the bones of the track and use them to build an intense, bass-heavy Electro version.
Drawing immediate attention to the track’s empowering female vocal (“I don’t wanna hear about you now / I’m moving on I’m breaking free somehow”), Titus1 – My Fire (TATE SEDAR Radio Mix) brings bombastic, bass-heavy melodies and a palpable sense of drama to bear on the original, imbuing it with additional energy and adding even more power to its already fierce vocal performance. According to the artists themselves, this fiery remix “reflects TATE’s ongoing passion to rework and shape the music that resonates with him in 2024” – and that’s putting it lightly. With intricate build-ups, substantial drops and gritty bass, TATE’s love for the original song shines through in the attentiveness of this rework; not a single note or beat is wasted, and the production is both slick and modern but also allows for the punchiness of Titus1’s original to shine through.
To rework a track with such originality takes a seriously talented producer, a category into which TATE SEDAR clearly falls. Whilst his own material of late – including tracks like San Fransisco, Emotions and Our Goodbye – have more of an uplifting, feel-good vibe, this remix shows his aptitude for taking tracks like My Fire and emphasizing their darkness and potency with both flair and passion.
