TATE SEDAR has released his first original single of 2024 with a post-EDM tribute to where he was born and raised titled San Francisco. The genre of post-EDM combines live recorded instruments with the laptop and DAW electronic music production world and has been rising in popularity over the past decade. TATE SEDAR most recently brought forth a post-EDM remix of Oh Caroline by The 1975. For TATE SEDAR – San Francisco, the goal was to incorporate the city’s history in both rock and hip-hop into this hybrid-sounding track.
The track’s opening build-up continues the post-EDM tradition of using live recorded instruments. San Francisco includes a post-Rock vibe to it’s introduction stemming from multiple clean guitar parts with heavy reverb working together to create a building atmospheric and melodic ambiance that is similar in sound to bands like Explosions In The Sky and Mogwai. A brief drum riser at the end of the post-Rock build-up leads to the first drop of the beat featuring a deep kick drum and a major change up in the track’s sound as digital production takes over with a swelling bass motif enhanced with top-notch editing in the transitions into each new round of its repeated phrase. At the track’s breakdown, the kick drum drops out as the bass motif continues and introduces another edgy bass counter-melody on top of it when the beat returns.
At the counter-melodies outset we get a merger of both genres as the sharp bass from the counter melody sustains its final note as the vamping guitars from the intro return to bring about another building ambiance to lead to one final drop of the beat and swelling bass motif. TATE SEDAR – San Francisco is currently available for streaming and if it leaves you hungry for more, you can also check out another of his new releases in his original track titled Wish I Could. Both new tracks feature original versions and extended versions of the songs giving you multiple listening opportunities of TATE SEDAR’s post-EDM stylings.
