New Sublab music ‘Hyper Focus’ is Hardwave Supremacy

With his unique brand of Vapor Twitch music, Sublab is no stranger to EKM. The Dresden-based producer has emerged onto the electronic music scene very quickly. At only 22 years old, there’s still so much more new Sublab music to come. His releases over the past year have been refreshing and eclectic. He’s produced solo tracks such as ‘Luminescence’ but he’s also put out collaborations such as his track ‘Adore’ with producer AK. Both are great examples of modern Hardwave music. There’s also a huge back-catalog of his work on SoundCloud going back 6 years. Even back then you can hear how defined and unique Sublab’s sound is.

Vapor Twitch music is hard to define. But if you were to pick someone who exemplifies its heavier side, Sublab would be a good choice. In ‘Hyper Focus’ we’re shown the full range of his skills. He creates an enormous, spacey atmosphere through his use of pads and textures. On this new Sublab music, there’s no rhythm to latch on, so the sound is totally immersive. Out of nowhere, a giant kick and reese-like bass take center-stage. Similarly to his previous release ‘Love Architect’, it features drums and percussion that are super crisp and sharp. This is a production trope of new Hardwave music and it sounds great on these huge, hard-hitting tracks.

Sublab goes on to blow this track up with an even more intense chorus. He uses zaps and laser effects to reinforce his hyper-futuristic style and give his music context. He takes us on a journey, from a lonely spacewalk to a star going supernova. And he manages to do it in less than four minutes. In his productions, he makes use of saw-tooth type leads that are harsh and attention-grabbing. But after countless new Sublab music productions, he manages to use them in a way that still surprises. With 10k SoundCloud hits in 10 days, expect to be hearing a lot more from Sublab in the future.
