Los Angeles-based DJ DLMT has teamed up again with Aussie-based DJ Tom Budin to drop a charged new Tech House single titled The Rhythm. This is their first collaboration since their invigorating 2018 Deep House single Right Now that has surpassed a million streams. Both producers have been busy between their collaborations with dozens of releases over the past six years. For 2024, Tom Budin released a bold and electrifying slice of new hypnotic Tech House music in partnership with Wave Wave titled I Know. You’ll also find some banger solo releases from Tom Budin including his 2021 minimal but relentless Tech House track Rave Police. For 2024, DLMT has issued the correctly named solo Tech House track More Passion, More Energy. We are also still raving about DLMT’s 2023 deep & sexy club music single in tandem with Maahez titled Safari also released via IN/ROTATION Records.
DLMT & Tom Budin – The Rhythm catches our attention immediately as it opens with its unique beat built off the kick drum and busy, bouncing eighth-note patterned auxiliary percussion. A mind-etching voice sample soon joins the beat establishing the song’s sonic focus for the remainder of the track with the repeated phrase “The rhythm goes like”. Next, the beat drops out as a newly established floor-shaking bass drone accompanies the continuing repeated voice drops. This makes way for an intense drum riser that culminates with a gratifying beat drop. During the drop section, a new Techno bass synth motif is added to the previously established beat along with repetitive hype shouts in the background as the voice drops continue.
A bridge section next ensues as the powerful bass drone returns now accompanied by syncopated percussive mid-ranged synth rhythms and a new voice-over passionately encouraging the audience to get up and dance. As the new voice-over finishes, the repeating drops of “The rhythm goes like” return and assist a new drum riser that makes way for the final drop section. The final drop section raises the roof with intensity until the beat starts to decompose going from its full complex rhythms to a simple four-on-the-floor kick drum and off-beat hi-hats, followed again by just the hi-hats that guide us to the track’s conclusion. DLMT & Tom Budin – The Rhythm was well worth the six-year wait between collaborations from these two DJs who have both furthered their acclaim in the scene these past years.
