BIJOU – Lights Out EP is the brand new release from the US G-House star, whose career has been on the rise since the release of his track Hello with fellow G-House producer Dr. Fresch in 2016. Further releases, including Gotta Shine with Germ, Louis V with AC Slater and The Player’s Anthem with Benny The Butcher, have earned him support from big names in the industry like Don Diablo, Party Favor and Destructo, whilst reports from his live shows prove he is both an exciting and energetic performer. This new EP, meanwhile, has been described as a release that “encapsulates a decade’s journey of relentless dedication and evolution in the realm of electronic music”, so it sounds as though it’s going to build up the artist’s ongoing legacy even more.

At first glance, the BIJOU – Lights Out EP appears to have a whopping thirteen tracks, but a little further investigation will show that there are actually six main tracks and seven shorter interludes. The track that has received the most attention so far – having already racked up over 100,000 listens on Spotify – is Chit Chat, a fast-paced, straight to the point House track that fuses simple but catchy melodies with the alluring vocals of No/Me. Another notable moment is Mercy featuring AK RENNY, which pushes the latter’s self-assured vocal to the forefront of the track, and proceeds to use heavily distorted synths and a pounding beat to carry it along. Keep an ear out for the track SLOW MOTION featuring Gold Lemonade too, which erupts into the kind of bold, gritty G-House chorus that BIJOU specializes in.

To feel the full effect of the BIJOU – Lights Out EP, you really need to listen to it yourself from start to finish, taking in the room-shaking bass lines, and what the artist describes as “enigmatic beats”. BIJOU is clearly an artist who knows what he wants and how he needs to get there, something tangibly showcased by the powerful tracks on this release.
