VIRTUAL JASPER is Jesper Høller, a Copenhagen-based Electronic music producer who takes inspiration from the varied EDM scene in his native Scandinavia. This much is evident in his latest release, VIRTUAL JASPER – SPRAY J, an old school Tech House banger that was released earlier this month.
According to the artist himself, VIRTUAL JASPER – SPRAY J is worthy of his listeners’ attention for four main reasons, all of which we heartily agree with here at EKM. The first relates to the track’s overt sense of nostalgia; with its blend of retro-sounding scratches and hyperactive House synths, the single encapsulates all that was good about House music in its first flush of popularity during the late 1980s, and as such will surely prove to be an instant hit amongst fans of that old school Tech House sound. The artist also points out the track’s potential to be a dance floor classic, with its thunderous four-to-the-floor beat remaining throughout the song’s five-and-a-half-minute duration and powering it along nicely. The third interesting point about VIRTUAL JASPER – SPRAY J is described by the artist as “crossover potential”, in that it takes those elements of classic House and Techno and pairs them with slick, contemporary production. Finally VIRTUAL JASPER points out the uniqueness of the track’s music video, a futuristic affair that extends the storyline of the artist’s intriguing alter ego, whilst drawing the listener further into the track’s hypnotic, catchy melodies and simple but effective bassline.
Alongside these four points, VIRTUAL JASPER – SPRAY J makes for a wholly enjoyable listening experience that is sure to get you feeling nostalgic for House and Techno eras gone by. With its danceable, pulsing feel, slick production and simple but groovy bassline, this is a track that will sit well amongst Virtual Jasper’s preexisting discography, and will subsequently please fans both old and new.
