French producer Felix Gomez, better known as UNLOGIX, first discovered his love for EDM at the age of fifteen, making the decision to devote himself to it from then on. Now, at 24 years old, he specializes in Progressive Trance and Techno music that really showcases his love and respect for both genres, as evidenced on his newest release UNLOGIX – Nana, which is out now on EDIT Records.
In its single form, UNLOGIX – Nana comprises two versions – a radio edit and a full-length cut. Clocking in at nearly seven and a half minutes, the full-length version is our favorite of the two, particularly for the way in which it captures the spirit of Progressive Trance and Techno music, incorporating a slow build-up of momentum and numerous layers of rhythm and melody. Alongside a reverb-heavy vocal sample and the pulse of a kick drum, these elements come together to form a track that truly harnesses a sense of anticipation, keeping its listeners on their toes before the next section hits. We love the track’s high energy vibes too, with its bold, brazen stabs of keyboard melody throughout ensuring that the energy of UNLOGIX – Nana carries over perfectly from one section to another.
Elsewhere, deep basslines and introspective lyrics (“so why do you think I don’t know when you’re lying / know when you’re trying / to hide how you feel from me?”) give the track an emotive and nocturnal feel, make sure listeners know that Nana is a song they can escape into, even in the darkest hours of the night when it feels as though no one else is awake.
As proved by this excellent new track, it’s clear that UNLOGIX really knows what he’s doing when it comes to creating Progressive Trance and Techno music anthems that adhere to the typical features of these genres without ever seeming predictable. As such, even though Nana is his first single of 2024, we’re sure that there will be many more releases of this caliber to come over the following months.
