Take It All Back is the new Electro House track on Big Fish Recordings from TATE SEDAR, the LA-based artist who has previously brought us releases like San Francisco, Wish I Could, Overload, Heaven, and the This Is Post-EDM EP. Combining the familiar sounds of House Music with a fresh Electro twist – a style that has been dubbed ‘complextro’ by Porter Robinson – this is one that both new and existing fans of the artist will adore.
TATE SEDAR Reconnects With Complextro on Take It All Back
Gritty percussion and nostalgic chords set the scene of this potent track, while a female vocal delivers the big hooks and melodic edges. Then the details start flying, with production flourishes flickering at the edges of the song, while hyperpop glitches keep the track’s momentum high. Overall, this lends the track the busy, playful feel of the classic complextro style, but SEDAR keeps it moving forward rather than leaning on nostalgia.
From Electro House to Drum & Bass on Big Fish Recordings
The Electro House drive of TATE SEDAR – Take It All Back eventually spills into a bass-heavy Drum & Bass drop, giving the track a second wind. The idea began as a House/DnB demo for a potential collaborator while SEDAR was working on his 2024 debut EP. He had the vocal, the hook and the first drop, but that was all. A year later, Laidback Luke reviewed the demo on his Tomorrowland One World Radio segment, prompting SEDAR to finish it, as well as learn to produce Drum & Bass along the way! Big Fish Recordings, home to releases by artists SEDAR admired when he was in high school, proved a fitting place for the track to find its home.
Why Complextro Is a Full-Circle Move for TATE SEDAR
SEDAR first dipped his toes into the complextro style during the early-2010s Electro House boom. Porter Robinson coined the term on his MySpace profile for the complex style of music he was making, while restless synths and quick-fire changes subsequently became part of SEDAR’s musical DNA. Now TATE SEDAR – Take It All Back brings those roots into a new chapter, nodding to the sound that inspired him before taking an unexpected turn into Drum & Bass along the way.
