As a New York Times best-selling author and pro fitness body builder, Chrisanna Northrup is no stranger to the limelight. Now it looks as though she’s going to be making her way centerstage once again with a career as a Techno producer/DJ, having started releasing music last year under the moniker Raw Love, and finding that her popularity has been rapidly increasing ever since. Her latest release, Raw Love – Body to the Bass (which was released on February 28th via the Animarum Black label) is her first single of 2025 and her fourth single overall, but it bears all the hallmarks of a musician and producer who has been honing their craft for many years.
According to the artist herself, Raw Love’s brand of Techno music takes inspiration from a wide range of EDM subgenres, something that definitely comes through on Raw Love – Body to the Bass. A captivating but unpredictable track full of guttural basslines and hard-hitting beats, there’s elements of Melodic Techno, Hard Dance, and even dark, raw Industrial music coursing through the song’s veins. Tying this range of inspirations together is the track’s distinctive female vocal refrain – “feel it in my face / body to the bass” – that comes and goes throughout, punctuating sections of dynamic synths and those memorable stabs of bass by ensuring that the attention of the listener is always held.
“No matter what style of techno, every set or sound element all derives from the deep expression of letting yourself go, emotionally and physically captivated by the music in the rawest form of love for yourself, your partner, your friends, and for life”.
It’s a telling statement, emphasizing the liberating energy that lies in all of her releases to date, particularly Raw Love – Body to the Bass. With a bold, dark sound powered by its potent basslines, we can’t help but feel it’s a track that will long be recognized as one of the most accomplished in Raw Love’s catalogue.
