DJ and producer Max Styler truly is a force to be reckoned with on the House scene right now; iconic label Insomniac describe the Californian native as “a dynamic force in the world of dance music, utilizing his near-decade of production experience to consistently push boundaries and evolve his unique sound with each release”. This boundary-pushing and evolution is particularly apparent on his latest release, the Max Styler – Don’t Stop EP, which brings together three tracks of energetic, danceable House music.
Getting things off to an impeccable start, the Max Styler – Don’t Stop EP kicks off with Let Em’ Know, a deep, dynamic track that uses its groovy bassline to keep listeners hooked. Coupled with the energising vocal line (“we got rhythm we got flow / so we gotta let ‘em’ know”) and a few cleverly placed false drops, the track is a dark and electrifying addition to this fresh new release.
Also featured here is the EP’s title track, which brings in some retro-sounding synths and a simple but brutally effective bassline to keep proceedings sailing along nicely. Perhaps the best part of this track is its straightforward but hard-hitting drop that occurs around a minute from the end, which literally makes you want to reach for your device and start the track all over again.
The final track on the Max Styler – Don’t Stop EP is Inferno, and, as indicated by its title, it brings some serious heat to this already fiery release. The song keeps the vocal samples and retro vibes at the forefront, although it seems slimmer and more lithe than the two previous tracks, perhaps because the bassline and the drums are given plenty of space to breathe. It makes a perfect, exhilarating closing track to what is a highly accomplished EP, and, alongside previous releases such as Addiction/Yapper with Oscar L and Amazing, sees the artist staking his claim to being one of the hottest acts on the US House scene right now.
