elx drops Groove Echoes: Breakbeats, Bass, and Beyond

Discover dj elixir aka elx's new album ‘Groove Echoes’ — a genre-blending, forward-thinking blend of electronic dance music genres.

Groove Echoes is the brand new Experimental release from Canadian artist elx, also known as DJ elixir or Jory Bice. Described by the artist himself as “a love letter to dance culture”, the album is packed with a wealth of exhilarating tracks that blend genres including Breakbeat, Techno, Tech House, House, and UK Bass, pushing the boundaries of what we currently know as EDM in the process. The album also has a unique concept behind it, with each track intending to represent “a distinct phase of the nightlife experience”, including “anticipation, connection, chaos, and the introspective comedown”.

Boasting a healthy 14 tracks, elx – Groove Echoes is bound to have something for everyone. One particular highlight is Brand New Record, a Tech House flavored track that brings uplifting, revitalizing energy in the form of fresh vocal melodies and simple but irresistible Techno rhythms. In a similar vein is second-half highlight Dance All Night. This track has a much darker feel, employing room-shaking bass lines, clattering drums and hyperactive vocal samples to position the listener right in the middle of a crowded dance floor at 2am when things are getting a little crazy.

Elsewhere on Groove Echoes, elx brings some UK Bass vibes with Slow Drip, which slows the pace of the album down a little but keeps intensity levels high with its buzzing, penetrating bass lines and hi-hat-heavy rhythms.

Reportedly crafted entirely in elx’s personal studio, Groove Echoes has been described as “a hands-on, unfiltered reflection of elixir’s vision, free from outside influence, driven by machines and grooves”. This personal, DIY approach shines through in the album’s raw energy and diversity, and you can really tell that elx has granted himself complete freedom to explore the textures, moods and genres that he loves most. All in all, this makes the album a seriously immersive experience, as well as a high concept EDM release that gets you thinking whilst keeping the dance floor as its focus.
