Edictum takes us on a captivating and emotional interstellar musical journey with his transporting new 2025 album "A Cosmic Scale".

Edictum can always be counted on by the Synth Wave enthusiast to bring compelling modern takes on the retro sound, blending Trance, Techno, Funk, Disco and Progressive House all while taking his listeners on fantastic journeys with unique stories to tell. With his first release for 2025, Edictum presents the full thematic album A Cosmic Scale which takes the listener on a riveting trip through the solar system. The singles for Edictum – A Cosmic Scale were gradually released throughout 2024, a busy year for the artist that also saw the release of his upbeat anime fighters meeting the dance floor-themed album titled Bear Me, Darling. I Just Want To Dance, a collaboration with Turbo Knight and more than a handful of guest contributors. 2024 also saw an EP release from Edictum in the dark and melancholic sounding yet hopeful collaboration with jacket. titled Vault of Silent Solace.

The journey of A Cosmic Scale begins with the track Astral Guide which beams the listener into the cockpit of a spacecraft on its way to the solar system as a pumping and looping bass mixed with spectacular sound design and powerful drums allows the listener to feel the space turbulence. Midway through the track the pumping bass and drums come to a stop leaving a calming ambiance as if the spacecraft just came out of hyperdrive. From there, a grandiose lead synth motif is introduced evoking the feeling that you’ve just set your eyes on something quite outstanding like a heavenly body. Next, the bass and drums join back in the track as it quickly accelerates as the spacecraft is again in motion heading into the atmosphere of its first planetary stop.

All eight planets and the dwarf planet Pluto (Kuiper Belt) have tracks representing them in Edictum – A Cosmic Scale. Much thought went into how to represent each planet compositionally in the album. Gaia, the planet of life (Earth), includes a Drum and Bass relationship that feels like a beating heart as a moving life-like aura is always present from its background synth ambiance. Mars continues its distinction as the “Bringer of War” in A Cosmic Scale. This portrayal of Mars was first brought on by English composer Gustav Holst in his 1914 composition The Planets. Edictum represents Mars, the “Bringer of War” with a semi-Dubstep approach with rhythmic basses evoking futuristic laser gunfire and transitioning moving bass swells representing chaos. Simple relatable concepts also contribute compositionally throughout A Cosmic Scale including the track Saturn, which follows a 6/8 time signature based on Saturn being the sixth planet. Each planet provides a perfect sonic description throughout A Cosmic Scale and once again Edictum has delivered with this solo album for 2025 something that leaves us Synth Wave fanatics satisfied and ready for more.
