Right On Time / Gringata is the banging new two-track Tech House EP on Baikonur Recordings from Reebs, a music producer and DJ based in Lecco, Italy. Having been featured on labels including Mixmash Records, Armada Music and Heldeep Records, and supported by big-name artists including David Guetta, Martin Garrix and Afrojack, this fresh, exciting producer really is one to watch, and we have a sneaky feeling that Reebs – Right On Time / Gringata will add to his already sizeable fanbase.
Right on Time is the first track to be featured on the EP, and from the first few seconds of listening you can tell it has the makings of a Tech House classic. Combining a catchy vocal hook (“it’s right in time”) with an irresistible four-to-the-floor beat, the intro starts things off strong. The track then continues to build from this relatively sparse arrangement into something more substantial, keeping that vocal hook at the forefront but adding in some additional percussion, production flourishes and edgy synth lines. The highlight of the track, meanwhile, is the breakdown that hits around halfway through; here the arrangement is stripped down to virtually nothing except the vocal line, allowing Reebs to work on building the energy back up into a bold, climactic finish.
Next up on the release is Gringata, another heavily percussive track that keeps energy levels high. Again, the focus here is very much on the featured vocal sample (which repeats the track’s title over and over), but also included are some more mysterious instrument samples that almost evoke the sound of Indian dance music. It’s an unexpected but interesting flavor to bring to the Tech House genre, and really rams home the fact that Reebs – Right on Time / Gringata showcases the unique and distinctive sound of this talented artist to its full extent.
