South London-based artist PRVNA has been making waves on the electronic music scene recently, with her unique blend of Afro House and her distinctive, soulful vocals. She’s recently dropped a new track, PRVNA – Only Light, which perfectly blends these two musical features together whilst exploring a darker sound that was not quite as palpable in some of her earlier work. Released on Soundplate Records, this new PRVNA Afro Tech / House music track, produced with DJ Naughty, is accompanied by an incredible music video, which embraces the track’s themes of darkness and light whilst also showcasing the artist’s own distinctive aesthetic.
Returning to the track itself, PRVNA – Only Light is built around a entrancing Afro Tech / House beat that helps to establish a solid groove from the outset. For her, the track “was a big move to get back to the dance floor, to feel the emotions and to release them all”. The track is certainly a cathartic listen, particularly the vocal refrain “when darkness seems to be my only light”, which PRVNA delivers with both elegance and feeling.
