If you like your Ambient music mixed with a dash of Melodic House and Techno, then you’ve come to the right place. Lou Martin – Alive is the latest release from this Switzerland-based producer, and it blends these genres together to create a truly unique piece of music that fans of electronic music everywhere will love.
Lou Martin – Alive is only the second release from this talented producer (the first being the single Breeze, which came out in November 2024), although it could quite easily have come from a far more experienced artist. Clocking in at just over four minutes, the track isn’t particularly long for an ambient-influenced piece of music, but Martin still manages to take his listeners on a journey, immersing them in gently pulsing synths, dark rippling bass lines and House-inspired grooves. Plaintive piano tones are the cherry on top, lending the track those extra melodic embellishments to keep it powering along.
Aside from its instrumentation, one of the key ways Lou Martin – Alive works to hold your interest is in its use of texture. Starting off with a relatively sparse arrangement, comprising only clicks of percussion, contemplative piano chords and an atmospheric synth pad, the track gradually grows and grows, reaching its climax at around a minute in, before slowing things into an intimate breakdown. Here, we’re greeted with rich, melodic string sounds, a mellow beat and choral synths, all of which ensure that Alive never loses its ethereal feel. Then, we’re back to another build-up and drop, which bring one final shot of energy into the song before its memorable outro.
Lou Martin might be a relatively new face on the Ambient/Melodic House scene, but this new track Alive shows that more experience doesn’t always necessarily equal better music. As such, we hope to be hearing more from this talented producer very soon!
