Created over two years between GTM Recording Studio in Rome and a remote retreat in Sardinia, the new Gaiatech Melodic Techno EP Tropical Freak reflects the 20 years Mecozzi has spent as an electronic music producer. Built on analog synths, multi-layered textures, and processed female vocals that blur the line between human and machine, the freshness, vibrancy, and immersive nature of tracks like Tropical Freak and Everything Is reveal the extent to which the producer has honed and developed his craft during this time. Elsewhere, more driven, intense moments like This Is It and Existence push deeper into the artist’s psychedelic Progressive Techno roots, showcasing heavier rhythms and organic textures that keep listeners on their toes.

💿 How Nature Retreats Influenced Gaiatech’s Organic Electronic Textures

The Tropical Freak EP found Gaiatech doing a lot of work in a secluded musical base in Sardinia, revisiting years’ worth of melodic sketches, basslines, and vocal fragments that he subsequently worked into his signature Techno sound. The natural surroundings he found himself in during this period have arguably brought a new balance between intuition and precision to his music, ensuring that this EP never feels any less than fluid and alive. Coupled with the distinctive sound of analog electronic music production, psychedelic and Progressive musical elements, and richly layered organic textures, with the Tropical Freak EP Simone Mecozzi has undoubtedly created one of his best and most musically accomplished releases to date.
