The Atlanta based electronic music duo HIKU has been on fire as of late. Composed of Tyler Kumpee and Niles Roberts, the guys first stepped under the limelight when they dropped their hard-hitting banger ‘Roll.’ The song generated huge waves in the EDM community and received more than 50,000 hits on Soundcloud. From that point onward, they went on to put out more hits like, ‘Casper’ and ‘Got Damn’, both of which were just as dope and successful as ‘Roll.’ The duo is also known for remixing songs such as ‘Swang’ by Rae Sremmurd and ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ by Demi Lovato. They have now delivered an explosive remix of Flume’s track ‘Friends.’ This is an impressive remix by the guys and we won’t be surprised if it ends up being in tons of trap & bass music DJs’ sets.
The remixed version of ‘Friends’ by HIKU is a power-packed banger. The duo begins the song by combining jangling hooks with arpeggiated basslines before they bring the tune to the boil for a show-stopping disruption. The second half sees a change in tone and timbre as they carry the track with its bright chord progressions and hooky basslines. It then makes an unexpected impact with its hard synths, thumping kicks, and volatile air. This track offers an insane amount of energy as Kumpee and Roberts make things even more intense when they combine acid top-lines with breakbeats.
HIKU’s version of ‘Friends’ is definitely a party starter that contains innovative synth lines, frenzied drum patterns and esoteric vocal chops. The song is a subtle blend of melodic trap and indie/electro pop that’s really coveting to be on the dance floor. ‘Friends’ is the kind of trap music that, with its electro-sounding timbre brimming with undulating sub-bass and melancholic chord progressions, will pull a bunch of strings in your heart.
