The long-awaited new Elephante album on Hidden Horizon just came out this morning, on the 29th of November 2024, and it’s a whirlwind of deep, emotional tracks that explore a variety of genres. The album is called Elephant – COPE, a title chosen by the artist for a very specific reason: “Thematically, it’s all about the different ways that we get through trauma and difficult moments in our lives. Each of the songs is a different approach to coping”. It’s a great sentiment, and one that undoubtedly comes across on the album’s 10 tracks.

Perhaps our favorite moment from the Elephante – COPE album so far is lead single Taste of Your Tongue, which also features London/LA-based vocalist babyidontlikeyou. The track features a gorgeous, melancholic vocal that really makes you sit back and reflect on the music you’re listening to, whilst cleverly produced piano chords and clap-driven beats give the verses a transient feel, as though they could slip through your fingers at any second. The main synth hooks and choruses, meanwhile, are bold, anthemic and exhilarating, their shimmering synths and punchy beats no doubt serving to draw in fans of a wide range of electronic music genres.

Other highlights from elsewhere on the Elephante – COPE album include All Is Not Lost, Know Your Name (featuring HALUNA), and Don’t Turn Back (featuring Linney). Along with Taste of Your Tongue, these tracks really seem to represent Elephante’s ability to “blend emotionally charged storytelling with his signature electronic production”, in turn making for a nuanced record that has the capacity to take its listeners on an emotional journey.

With the release of his new album on Hidden Horizon, 2024 is a big year for Elephante, and we must say that it is probably one of the artist’s most accomplished releases to date. Blending his knack for deep, reflective lyrics with a mesmerizing blend of genres and sounds, with COPE, Elephante has created something both cathartic and boundary-pushing.
