Long-time EKM readers will know that we’re big fans of Layton Giordani, the New York DJ and tastemaker whose tracks like Freaks At Night and Paranoid have kept him very much on the radars of Techno fans over the last 12 months. Giordani is also known for his remixes, with his take on tracks including Dom Dolla’s girl$ lighting up dance floors all over the world. Earlier this month, meanwhile, the producer brought us another massive release – the deadmau5 – Strobe (Layton Giordani Remix) – which takes Joel Zimmerman’s epic ten-minute original and morphs it into a new deadmau5 Strobe 2024 Melodic House & Techno music remix.
Building on the dramatic atmosphere of the original track, deadmau5 – Strobe (Layton Giordani Remix) shortens the track to about three-and-a-half minutes and generally makes it more intense, opting to leave the monumental build-up to the original and instead going in straight away with all guns blazing. Right from the get-go we’re presented with a deep, wall-shaking bass groove, some cool ‘call and response’ synth melodies and a pounding Techno beat, all which eventually give way to a bass-heavy breakdown that subsequently morphs into an energetic, melodic build up. Around two minutes in, the drop hits, and sees this new deadmau5 Strobe 2024 Melodic House & Techno music remix really get into its stride with fervent rhythms and atmospheric production flourishes. The track then gradually simmers out, isolating the bass groove and hi-hat-heavy beats before burning out with a final hiss.
In truth, we expected nothing less than top-tier excellence when we heard that the deadmau5 – Strobe (Layton Giordani Remix) was up for release. Giordani hasn’t let us down either, ensuring that his remix gives Melodic House and Techno fans all the hallmarks of the two genres without taking away anything from deadmau5’s masterful original.
