Montenegro duo Karacha have recently unveiled their remix of ATB’s iconic 1999 anthem Emotion. It’s a high-energy, Melodic DnB version of the song that is bound to grab the attention of anyone and everyone who listens. In fact, our prediction is that this ATB – Emotion (Karacha DnB cover/remix) will end up becoming one of the most popular remixes of the track ever to be released.
Comprising members Ilya Romanenkov and Michael Proskurin, Karacha have been making music since 2006, although 2024 found them renewing their center of attention in order to focus on high quality Drum and Bass tracks like this one. Taking the bold, brash energy of the original, the duo combines this with some typical Melodic DnB elements to create a cover/remix that stands up as a classic in its own right. Atmospheric synth pads, for instance, permeate throughout, lending this new version a feel of fullness and lushness that was not present in the original.
Another defining feature of the ATB – Emotion (Karacha DnB cover/remix) is its energetic Melodic DnB rhythms, which are smoother and less aggressive than those which can be heard in regular DnB, but which still bring a powerful feeling of propulsion and forward movement to the track. The duo also plays around with more mellow segments; at around the one minute forty mark, the remix slows into a soulful, melodic breakdown, perfectly offsetting the energetic reprise of the main synth riff that is about to hit.
Such carefully crafted elements of the song show the time and care that the duo have put into the ATB – Emotion (Karacha DnB cover/remix). Whilst the track can definitely be seen as a cover or a remix, in many ways it also feels like a tribute to the original track, acknowledging its energy and power whilst putting a fresh spin on it for the 21st century.
