As his debut EP following a recent rebrand, this new Drum & Bass release from KRÄX, also known as Marcel, has a cutting-edge sound to match the artist’s new identity. Comprising four tracks – Todas Las Noches, Perpetual, Mob Rule, and Sequana, this is one release from the co-owner of Flexout Audio and Sofa Sound Bristol that Drum and Bass fans will not want to miss out on.
KRÄX EP Moves Between Drum & Bass and UK-Bass Territory
KRÄX’s debut EP arrives as a statement of intent, using four tracks to show just how broad his production palette can be. Todas Las Noches opens the release with a distinctly Jungle-flavored energy, pairing break-driven rhythms with vocals and a Latin-tinged atmosphere inspired by Marcel’s planned move from Germany to Miami. Second track Perpetual keeps the pressure high, blending driving DnB with trance influences and triplet-heavy rhythmic twists.
Then comes Mob Rule, which takes a sharp turn into UK Garage territory. After years spent concentrating on D&B, the track gives KRÄX room to explore a framework built around melody, bass and Garage sensibilities.
PHAE Brings a Vocal Dimension to KRÄX’s Sequana
Closing the EP, Sequana brings PHAE into the picture, with her airy, atmospheric vocals adding a spacious, emotional layer to KRÄX’s detailed production. Not only does it round off the EP nicely, it also underlines KRÄX’s interest in balancing technical programming and production with a strong atmospheric feel.
KRÄX Brings His Latest Four-Track Statement to Flexout Audio
The EP also lands at an important moment for the artist beyond his own music. As a co-owner of Flexout Audio, he has helped shape the label’s forward-thinking underground identity, while Flexout’s recent operational partnership with Sofa Sound Bristol has brought two respected independent D&B imprints closer together without erasing their individual identities.
In short, this EP shows that KRÄX is clearly comfortable working within Drum & Bass, but is also more than happy to explore where the genre can be taken in the future. With this in mind, if your playlists are in need of some fresh Drum & Bass tunes, these three are well worth checking out – and don’t forget you can find more new Drum & Bass music at EKM.CO.
