Jason Ross just released his beautiful new track Intertwined with a stunning vocal by RUNN. This is the last record of the year from Ophelia Music and they’re ending on a high note. It’s been a great year for Jason Ross. Since the release of his album, 1000 Faces, we’ve been looking out for new Jason Ross music. It’s also been a great year for RUNN. Her feature vocals on Trivecta & Last Heroes‘ track Waiting For You clocked up over 250k views on YouTube in only one month. And lastly, it’s also been a great year for Ophelia Records, the incredible Future Bass label from Seven Lions. If you haven’t already, you should check out their mesmerizing recent release Xavi – Neverless HERE. Despite all the setbacks the music industry has faced this year, talented artists and hard-working labels are still putting out great music.
The vocal by RUNN on Intertwined makes for a divine opening. Her soft, modern yet unmistakable tone has a way of immediately conjuring emotion. The melody of the words is led by some simple, single piano notes. You can hear the breath between RUNN’s phrases and the hammer of the piano. Together, they create an intimate, all-encompassing sound. The track then experiences a gentle uptick in energy. The soft vocals are joined by several, rich harmonic layers. But being the work of both Jason Ross and Ophelia Music, you know that this is just the calm before the storm.
As with all Ross’ best music, he uses his soulful synth-work and percussive mastery to create epic builds. When the time is right he unleashes a tidal wave of sound. The thick, rich timbres mesh together to create a flood of emotion. These are broken, briefly and unexpectedly, by mechanical glitches and sonic ripples, reminiscent of early Seven Lions. This track is a perfect fit for the label and a perfect storm of music, lyrics and execution. We’re really looking forward to new Jason Ross music in 2021.
