Becky Hill – Space Remix EP Improves on Perfection

The Becky HillSpace Remix EP is an epic combination of talent. Four great producers have come together to rework Becky Hill’s anthemic hit ‘Space’. The original track is a regular on Radio 1, Radio 2 and Kiss FM. In its first month, it’s hit nearly 3 million views on YouTube alone. The track is an instant classic which is why this remix EP is so exciting. However, each remix has taken on a life and personality of its own. This EP is out on Polydor Recordings, the same label that will release Becky Hill’s upcoming album. The EP gets off to a strong start with a Nathan Dawe remix. Next up is the Solardo remix, then a Bruno Martini remix and finally a Majestic remix.

The Nathan Dawe remix starts with a slightly higher energy than the original. A tight clap and some bold piano chords support the vocal line. This immediately puts you in mind of Balearic beach parties and their classic House soundtrack. The drop brings pure dance floor vibes with a thundering kick and a punchy bass line. It manages to keep developing throughout, using the vocals really creatively. Next on the Becky HillSpace Remix EP is Solardo’s Trance-inspired remix, followed by Bruno Martini’s fist-pumping House stomper.

The Majestic remix is last but by no means least on this Polydor Recordings release. He stays fairly true to the original but gives it a lot more energy and vitality. This track is truly dance floor ready and keeps all the emotion and power of the original. This is particularly true of the climax at the end of the track, where Becky Hill’s vocals really shine. This is where the Majestic remix really stands out.

The first question you might ask when confronted with the Becky Hill – Space Remix EP is ‘why?’ The original is already fantastic. But the four producers involved have each managed to find a way to completely reinvent it. To sum up, all five tracks involved belong on air, on the dance floor and on your favorite playlists.

More About Becky Hill:

With her highly resonant voice and R&B-influenced style, Becky Hill first came to the public’s attention competing on series one of The Voice UK. Ultimately reaching the show’s semifinal round, Hill emerged a fan favorite and became the first Voice UK contestant to score a number one single when “Gecko (Overdrive),” her collaboration with Dutch EDM star Oliver Heldens, topped the U.K. singles chart in June 2014.

Born on February 14, 1994 in Bewdley, Worcestershire, England, Hill was no stranger to music when she first auditioned for the then new The Voice UK in 2012. As a teenager, she had sung with the acoustic rock & soul group Shaking Trees, which created some local buzz and received several plays on BBC Radio. By her own admission, she was a novice in the music industry game and it took her 18 months to finally get a record deal. In the meantime, however, her sultry, soulful, older-than-her-years voice was highly sought-after by dance artists looking for feature vocalists. Her first recorded appearance, on British drum n bass artist Wilkinson‘s single “Afterglow,” went to number eight on the U.K. singles chart. She then appeared on Rudimental‘s single “Powerless,” singing with them at several U.K. festivals in 2013, including Glastonbury.

Following her success with Heldens, Hill worked extensively with London-based dance producer MNEK and issued her debut solo single, “Caution to the Wind.” It showcased a shift toward a more electronica-influenced sound, with twinkling melodies and production reminiscent of Four Tet. The Eko EP appeared in 2017, and included the single “Unpredictable.” The single “Sunrise in the East” followed a year later. In 2019, Hill issued a pair of upbeat singles, “I Could Get Used to This,” which featured Weiss, and “Wish You Well,” which featured Sigala. Her most recent release, the Becky Hill – Space remix EP is out now Polydor Records which features a Majestic remix.

More About Nathan Dawe:

Nathan Dawe is fast-becoming one of the UK’s most talked-about new dance acts. Buoyed by a huge fan base in Birmingham and the Midlands, Nathan’s regional pull has seen him sell-out 3000-capacity headline shows in the city’s 02 Academy, as well as curate the first ever, one-day 0121 Fest in the summer of 2019. That pull is now starting to transmit nationwide, with Nathan’s single ‘Flowers’ ft. Birmingham rapper Jaykae – a fresh twist on the UK Garage classic — spending 11 weeks inside the UK Top 20, peaking at #12 earlier this summer.

Nathan’s new single ‘Lighter’ ft. KSI went straight to #1 on iTunes on launch and the official video, which also features Window Kid, S-X and Lotto Boyz’s Ash, racked up over 3.5 million views in its first 48 hours – it’s already shaping up to be one of the records of 2020.

Both singles follow Nathan’s first Atlantic Records singles ‘Cheatin’ and ‘Repeat After Me’ ft. Melissa Steel, both of which spotlighted his ability to write crisp, infectious dance music. Also, his most recent track, Space – Nathan Dawe Remix is featured on the Becky Hill – Space Remix EP. This is out now on Polydor Records.
