In those days of continuous mutation in musical genres, some producers are bringing dubstep back to its origins, halfway between modernity and Uk Garage nostalgia. The denomination Future Garage initiated by Whistla (SubFM) doesn’t get affection from everyone in the scene but defines quite well a whole bunch of productions gathering under its banner the likes of Submerse, Sully or Dark Sky.
Following this thread, Habstrakt (rising figure of dubstep signed on Buygore, Second To None and Dubsaw to name a few…) and Badjokes (hyperactive member of the collective Drink’It’Fresh) drop a surprising single, way deeper than what we could expect from them. A strongly reworked vocal and a purring bassline driven by a syncopated rythm and vivid synths, the south based producers stand in the crossroads of an ever mutating movement.
The artists chosen to remix it are no beginners. The up and coming producer 123mrk delivers a cheerfully broken influenced track, matching his previous releases on labels such as Squelch & Clap and Infinite Machine while Hubwar and Nekochan bring us a deep dubstep version led by the the young singer’s very distinctive voice. Finally, War and Mateba take us back to the roots of dubstep, swaying between minimalist breaks and lightning drops. For its second release and first single, Radio Los Santos gathers in a free pack the four tunes, available on Soundcloud.
